N44309, formerly C-GZTP of Alberta Canada, is a late model 1977 C-185F with a Bonaire modified IO-550 engine installation and flow ported and balanced by Victor Engines. The engine puts out 300HP Max Continuous at 2700rpm resulting in considerably more muscle and speed as opposed to the stock IO-520 which was 285hp at 2850rpm. The airplane is additionally modified with Cessna Belly Pod, extended rear baggage and a Kenmore Air Harbor mod with sliding rear seats. 309 has been known to haul 9 bales of hay with all survival gear and covers in the belly pod. Ol' 309 was well known in Southeast Alaska where notably Jim Hall owned and operated her in commercial service with Hall's Bush Service out of Long Island/Ketchikan Alaska. I have owned 309 for over 8yrs. and operate it on floats in the summer and ski's in the winter's out of Girdwood, AK. |
